EV Rider reviewer Dan Scanlan takes a test drive in a new GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck that wears its off-road prowess proudly, with American Expedition Vehicles gear attached to the AT4X version.

Thereβs a prominent AEV-upgrade boron steel skid plate, one of five under this truck; AEV stamped steel front and rear bumpersβ―with front winch capability; Multimatic DSSV spool valve dampers; and a 2-inch factory lift.

Inside, with 11.5-inches of ground clearance, you grab the leather-wrapped grab handles, or the steering wheel, and pull yourself up into black leather seats. The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is clear and concise, with a basic 140-mph speedometer and 6,000 rpm tach, or other designs. Climb into the rear bench seat, and thereβs lots of head and leg room. That 6-foot-long bed has lots of room too, while that 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque can tow up to 9,000-lbs. And with 11 inches of ground clearance, we rumbled over anything..
