C/10 Club of Florida Rally Renegades: A 5-stop road rally that starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the Mobil station in Callahan, then ends at Renegades on the River in Crescent City. The free poker run-style cruise will see punch cards given to the first 50 trucks – best hand will win some swag.

Staker Productions and the Jacksonville Sports Car Museum hold a special automotive showcase to showcase a special lineup of vehicles – and one of the wildest hypercars recently acquired by the museum at Deerwood Castle at 7601 Centurion Parkway. Set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, the event includes live DJ entertainment, food trucks and vendors, and exclusive vehicle displays from area Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Maserati dealerships, plus First Coast Hot Wheels. Tickets – $30 per person – can be purchased in advance through the Jacksonville Sports Car Museum page or at the gate on the day of the event.

Street Wars Car Show: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at Wipeouts Grill at 1585 Atlantic Blvd. in Neptune Beach. Spectators free, and show vehicles $25.

Toon Town Showcase: 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Toon Town at 1726 E. Church St.

Braderie Boulevard – A Celebration of Timeless Classics: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 29th & 30th, at the Jekyll Island Club Resort on Riverview Drive. The inaugural showcase will display vintage automobiles that are 50 years and older among the oaks of the historic Jekyll Island Club Resort. There is no registration fee for car owners to participate — fill out the form here to secure your space. There is a $10 toll per vehicle to get on the resort island.

McLaren

McLaren will reveal an authentic M6GT, restored by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), that brings founder Bruce McLaren’s original road-car ambition to life at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Produced using original body molds and authentic reference materials held in McLaren’s archives, the M6GT is a celebration of heritage that connects McLaren’s racing origins with the company’s road car accomplishments. MSO constructed the car from the ground up, combining restored components and freshly engineered one-offs to remain faithful to Bruce’s intent; paint, finishes and many details were revisited and re-engineered from original materials and photographs to preserve authenticity.

“The M6GT: Restored by MSO has been a labor of craft and care for the team and served as both a technical education and a living reminder of Bruce’s ambition to take McLaren beyond the racetrack,”  MSO director Jon Simms says.  “This car occupies a unique place in our collection – a tribute to the very beginnings of the company and a spiritual education for its future.”
To ensure ultimate authenticity, the M6GT: Restored by MSO uses a period-correct engine and gearbox, and the small-block V8 is fitted with ‘camel hump’ cylinder heads in line with the original specification.
The M6GT is the first expression of Bruce McLaren’s road-car ambitions and draws directly from the M6A racing program. The chassis is from a period-built M6A racer, verified against historic McLaren reference vehicles, in-keeping with the original vision.

At the center of the car sits the original 1970s M6A race car-derived cockpit, which serves as the emotional and physical heart of the build. Around it, hidden structural elements were hand-fabricated by MSO specialists, including the roll hoop, rear frame support structure, internal clam reinforcement and wiring harness– each created with the same care as the visible surfaces.
The suspension is original M6GT hardware, meticulously restored and rebuilt..

National Motor Museum

The historic Sunbeam 1000HP land speed record car that set no less than five outright land speed records between 1922 and 1027 has come to the U.S. after extensive renovation at the National Motor Museum arena at Beaulieu, England.

Set to be shown Aug. 16 at the Pebble Beach Concours, the long red machine got a special sendoff at the museum, joined by two other successful record breaking Sunbeams – the museum’s own Sunbeam 350hp that set records with Kenelm Lee Guinnes at Brooklands in 1922, and a privately owned Sunbeam Tiger that is seen regularly in historic motorsport events in the UK. 

 

National Motor Museum 

This is the first time for many years that all three Sunbeams have been together, before the Sunbeam 1000 was sent to the U.S. with the help of CARS International Shipping Manager Matthew Costello-Clarke.

“This was a unique challenge as, because of the size of Sunbeam’s wheels and that they’re solid at the back, we had to double-strap the chassis to the container,” he said.

National Motor Museum Senior Engineer Ian Stanfield, who led Sunbeam’s restoration, said: they were “already looking forward to celebrating Sunbeam’s return to Beaulieu next year, and I will be happy once it’s back here safe and sound.”

The Sunbeam Tiger is on loan to the National Motor Museum, and will be on exhibition until the 6th July. 

Ford Motor Company

The 1965 Ford Mustang convertible – the first pony car – has been inducted as the 38th vehicle added to the National Historic Vehicle Register, according to The Hagerty Drivers Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to preserving automotive culture and history.

The announcement coincides with the opening of Ford Motor Company’s “Driving America Forward” exhibit at Union Station in Washington, D.C., where the car is on public display through July 14.

The Wimbledon White convertible is unique because it is one of 23 Mustangs that carried visitors through the Ford Pavilion’s Magic Skyway attraction at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair in New York City.

“The 1965 Mustang display at the World’s Fair wasn’t just a car launch, in many ways it was the launch of an entire generation,” said McKeel Hagerty, Chairman of Hagerty and the President of the Board of Directors of the Hagerty Drivers Foundation. “This particular car carried tens of thousands of enthusiasts into the future at the most celebrated exhibition of its era. Its story belongs to all Americans, and there is no better moment to make that official than America’s 250th birthday.”

Ford Motor Company

Fitted with special undercarriage rigging and pulled along a cable track, this Mustang traveled an estimated 5,000 miles over six months, transporting approximately 40,000 passengers through a Disney-designed journey from prehistoric times into the space age. It is one of only a handful of Magic Skyway Mustangs known to survive, and is owned by Sam Pack of Texas.

The National Historic Vehicle Register documents and records vehicles of significant importance in American history and culture. Documentation of each vehicle is a partnership between the Hagerty Drivers Foundation and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Historic American Engineering Record, and is permanently archived in the Library of Congress.
