The next Caffeine & Octane Jacksonville, set for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at The Avenues mall at 10300 Southside Blvd. They will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s Child Life Programs! Bring your toy and drop it off at the checkered tent.

Gentle reminders – All vehicles parked in the Central Lot Features area must remain in place until the show concludes. If you cannot stay until then, please park in the exhibit lot. And please listen to the volunteers.

Upcoming events:

Second annual Jacksonville Toys for Tots Rally: 2 p.m. on Friday, is an optional rally from Orlando to Jacksonville/St. Augustine. Then from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Jacksonville Rally and Toy Drop. Car owners will gather in support of underprivileged children and arrive with their trunks full of toys, the events hosted by AutoLyfeStyle, WheelHouse and Miller Electric Company. Advance Registration –  $125 per car – additional passengers $25 per person (Includes lunch). Each car must also carry $50 of unwrapped & unopened toys AutoLyfeStyle is officially recognized, and authorized by the USMC to operate and collect on behalf of Toys for Tots.

USS Orleck Car Show:10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Jacksonville Naval Museum at 610 E. Bay St. Free for spectators and $30 per show vehicle, proceeds to benefit the museum. Show hosted by the museum, NAPA Auto Parts and the Corvette Club of Jacksonville.

HotWheelz3k Toy Drive/Cruise-In: 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Jimmy Hula’s, 709 S. Ponce De Leon Blvd, in St Augustine. The toy drive supports Wolfson Children’s Hospital – bring a new, unwrapped toy.  

Mandarin Athletic Association Car Show: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at Burnett Park, 3740 Burnett Park Road. Free for spectators and $20 per show vehicle – proceeds benefit MAA.

Frank Petersen Career Academy Showcase: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the academy at 7450 Wilson Blvd. Free for spectators and $25 to register show vehicles.

Registration is open for the annual Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff presented by Sunoco: Set for Friday March 6, the day before The Amelia concours on Saturday. About 150 must-see cars, from legendary collector cars to iconic race machines, are expected starting at 1 p.m. that Friday on Fernandina Beach’s Main Beach Park, just a few miles north of the Ritz-Carlton. Spectator entry is free, while vehicle entry, limited to 150 pre-registered cars, is $45 per. All cars must preregister.—

The FIRM (Florida International Rally and Moto Park): Open Track Days held most weekends at the road course and rally course at 7266 Airport Road in Starke.

Looking like a bit of classic HUMVEE combined with Palisade, Hyundai has unveiled teaser sketches of its new CRATER Concept extreme off-road show vehicle. And the real thing is set to make its global debut this week at AutoMobility LA 2025 in Los Angeles, Calif.

The CRATER Concept will also be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show from now through Nov. 30. 

So what is it?

The CRATER Concept is a compact off-road SUV show vehicle that Hyunda says “embodies capability and toughness.”

“It is a design exploration that captures the spirit of adventure,” the company news release adds. “Inspired by extreme environments, the CRATER Concept … has been crafted to amplify the same spirit and robustness found in Hyundai’s XRT production vehicles, including the IONIQ 5 XRT, SANTA CRUZ XRT, and the new PALISADE XRT PRO.”

The design was conceived at Hyundai America Technical Center (HATCI) in Irvine, Calif., teaser sketches showing its nose, tail and overall look.

Kia has unveiled its “reimagined” 2027 Kia Telluride, redefining the look of the mid-size SUV that debuted six years ago.

For Kia’s design team, the goal was to preserve the essence and design DNA that made the original such a standout in its segment, while elevating its presence and sophistication. The result is an all-new Telluride that’s 2.3 inches longer overall, with a wheelbase stretched by nearly three inches and a height increase of one inch.

The all-new 2027 Telluride will make its official world debut later this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show with a wide breadth of trim levels including the X-Pro trim. The second-generation SUV is expected to arrive in showrooms during the first quarter of 2026.

“With Telluride, it was a matter of being tailored and restrained – dare I say, anti-design,” said Tom Kearns, VP and Senior Chief Designer, Kia Design Center America. “With that approach, it was about capturing strength and luxury, tradition and modernness, into a single expression.”

The front end gets a broad hood with clean, straight lines establishes a powerful stance, while vertical headlamps frame the high-gloss grille. Floating wheel cladding adds refinement while also insulating against the elements, and the tapered roofline contributes dynamic flow while preserving interior room.

At the rear, a rising beltline meets broad fender surfaces to give the vehicle a planted, powerful presence, while the sculpted bumper suggests the SUV’s trail-ready narrative.

“The original Telluride has these instantly recognizable vertical bar tail lamps.  In the second generation, we reinforced this strong light signature by applying it to the front as well,” said Kurt Kahl, Chief Designer, Kia Design Center America. “The twin LED vertical strips that frame the grille and sharpen the Telluride’s face feature Kia’s Star Map lighting graphic. The amber-hued DRL lighting returns with this sleeker, more modern expression.” 

The Amelia Concours has been shortlisted for Motoring Event of the Year at the 2025 International Historic Motoring Awards. Celebrating excellence, innovation, and dedication across the global historic motoring community, the International Historic Motoring Awards shine a spotlight on individuals, clubs, organizations, and events that preserve, promote, and enrich our shared motoring heritage. Winners will be announced on November 14 in London.

Speaking of The Amelia, Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at the event in early March. And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes. Mercedes-Benz has shown off a new EV concept called  the Vision Iconic show car, embodying what the automaker calls “the freedom to think beyond convention – a creative expression that introduces new perspectives and bridges past and future.”

And a central feature is the reinterpretation of one of the most recognizable elements in automotive history: the Mercedes-Benz radiator grille.

“Vision Iconic embodies our vision for the future of mobility. With groundbreaking innovations such as neuromorphic computing, steer-by-wire, solar paint and Level 4 highly automated driving, along with state-of-the-art technology, we are setting new standards for the electric and digital age,” Chief Technology Officer Markus Schäfer says. “This beautiful vehicle is a testament to our commitment to making the mobility of tomorrow a reality today.”
The huge coupe is inspired by the golden era of automotive design of the 1930s, with sculptural flowing lines and a touch of Art Deco, says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The interior represents a new kind of journey with automated driving, characterized by lounge-like comfort and an entirely new experience of hyper-analog and digital luxury, Mercedes says. That includes the “Zeppelin” floating glass structure in the dashboard, and a refined interplay of analog and digital instruments.

The concept also has innovative solar coating for additional range, a photovoltaic-active surface that can harness power from the sun,

Kindred Motorsports has a new bespoke Grayback Electric Vehicle Platform to develop EV Broncos and other vintage car or truck.

Named after the USS Grayback (SSG-574), a U.S. Navy guided missile submarine built at Mare Island, where Kindred Motorworks is headquartered, the Grayback EVP allows Kindred to integrate sophisticated electric powertrains into virtually any vintage vehicle, it says.

The Grayback EVP manages heating, cooling, battery management, vehicle controls, power distribution, battery boxes, and the car’s charging system.

Registration is open for the annual Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff presented by Sunoco: Set for Friday March 6, the day before The Amelia concours on Saturday. About 150 must-see cars, from legendary collector cars to iconic race machines, are expected starting at 1 p.m. that Friday on Fernandina Beach’s Main Beach Park, just a few miles north of the Ritz-Carlton. Wait, there’s more…

Ford’s Dearborn employees are gonna have to pack up and move out soon – they have a new home for the first time in 70 years. In a staff letter this week, Bill Ford and Jim Farley told the folks that the majority of its new World Headquarters building on Oakwood Boulevard will be complete this year, and continue through 2027 on a final section of the site.

Up to 4,000 people can work from at the new HQ, versus 2,000 in the iconic 12-story, 950,000-sq.-ft. Glass House that served as the nerve center of global operations.

 “This is part of a larger investment in our people and our facilities across the globe. We are committed to providing employees with world-class workspaces, modern technology, and the best tools to do their life’s best work—from our global offices to our manufacturing floors,” the letter says.

The new Ford HQ is 2.1 million square feet, with six design studios, a design showroom to conduct a full product review in one unified space with 10 turntables and a 64-foot micro-LED screen for comparing digital, full-size vehicles. There are large event spaces for hundreds of employees, and a 160,000 square foot food hall.

As for the 70-year-old Glass House, it will be sustainably decommissioned and ultimately demolished over the course of roughly 18 months as we prepare to repurpose the site as an asset to our teams and our community.

Cocoa Village Concours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 434 Delannoy Ave. in Historic Cocoa Village. Free for spectators and $30 day of event for show vehicles in the heart of Historic Cocoa Village’s shaded downtown streets and in Riverfront Park. See an extensive display of vehicles spanning from the early 1900s to contemporary classics, with live entertainment.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.

And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.

Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.
