The Amelia Concours returns March 5–8, 2026, to Amelia Island, – Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree. And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says. Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion.

This Porsche 908-004 “Lang Heck” (1968) is the only surviving example in its original early Monza configuration.

Driven by Scarfiotti & Mitter at the 1968 Monza 1000km and later owned for 40 years by Gérard Larrousse, this sculptural legend is considered by many to be the most beautiful Porsche race car ever built.

FYI – Franchitti will drive in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Feb. 28 in St. Petersburg, driving the No. 1 Toyota for Tricon in partnership between the team, Jimmie Johnson and Legacy Motor Club. And Franchitti will be part of The Amelia’s Legends of Speed dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 at the hotel; Tickets are $355 per person, including dinner and open bar – this event is for ages 21+.

The concours is now on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes. More details and ticket pre-sales are at ameliaconcours.com.

Florida. The event also features Sunday’s Cars & Caffeine, a 2-day Broad Arrow Auction and enthusiast programming

To register your Porsche, go to https://www.werksreunion.com/amelia.cfm

2023 image by Brian Walsh

Jacksonville’s Brian “Racer Walsh” will be back at the Rolex 24/Daytona International Speedway this weekend with his, and his famous late father Jerry’s #93 Purple 1971 Ford Pinto on display in the fan zone. The car will be there till Sunday afternoon. No on track action, but Brian says that it’s “always fun to be at the big house.

What will be racing in the round-the-clock Rolex 24 is Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Hypercar, making its debut in the opening round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship [IMSA].

The Aston Martin THOR Team-run Valkyrie’s participation in the 64th running of the event marks the first occasion in more than 40 years that the British ultra-luxury performance brand will have challenged for overall honors with a works car in the top GTP class.

The racecar is developed from its production sibling by Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing [THOR] with a race-optimized carbon fiber chassis, modified 6.5-liter V-12 with over 1,000 hp.

The Valkyrie is also the only entry derived from a road-going hypercar competing in either North America’s premier endurance series or the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC].

Full-season works IMSA drivers and IMSA GT champions Roman De Angelis (CAN) and Ross Gunn (GBR), will be joined in the driver line-up by works FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] Valkyrie racers Alex Riberas (ESP) and Marco Sørensen (DEN). All four drivers will make their Rolex 24 at Daytona GTP class debut.

“It’s awesome to be back starting the year at Daytona; the first Rolex 24 for Valkyrie,” Gunn says. “Of course, we have our eyes on a finish and on trying to understand a bit more how the race flows in GTP on this track. I can’t wait to work with the Aston Martin THOR Team again, it’s been a short winter but there has been a lot of work going on in the background. I’m eager to see how all the learnings we’ve made over the winter come to fruition in practice. Daytona is always a great start to the year and has a brilliant atmosphere. It sets the tone for the rest of the season.”

Photo – Ferrari

Ferrari has unveiled its latest sports car, the 849 Testarossa, replacing the SF90 Stradale in the range as a hybrid plug-in super sports berlinetta. Equipped with three electric motors alongside the mid-rear twin-turbo V-8, it will deliver a total of 1.035-hp, more than the car it replaces.

The 849 Testarossa takes its place at the top of Ferrari’s range thanks to its performance, as well as its futuristic yet deeply historically rooted design.

Testa Rossa (red head) was first used on the 500 TR in 1956 to describe the color of the cam covers of some of Ferrari’s most extreme, high-performance and iconic racing engines, before being used as a name for one of the marque’s most famous road-going models, the 1984 Testarossa.

Photo – Ferrari

The heart of the 849 Testarossa revolves around its twin-turbo eight-cylinder internal combustion engine. The hybrid group, consisting of a rear electric motor and two units installed on the front axle, is part of an on-demand four-wheel drive system and torque vectoring system.

From a styling point of view, the 849 Testarossa marks a revolution in the concept of a Ferrari V8 mid-rear berlinetta: the inspiration taken from 1970s Sports Prototypes, together with sharp and geometric lines, creates a unique and timeless design.

The cockpit is even more enveloping and ergonomic than before: the central sail motif with the integrated gear-change gate, inspired by the F80, improves the positioning of components and makes them more accessible.

Photo – Ferrari

The new steering wheel, equipped with mechanical buttons (including the iconic engine start button), elevates the driving experience while maintaining the high functionality of the latest-generation Ferrari steering wheels. Finally, a new HMI system makes interaction with the car even simpler and more intuitive.

Its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system has a twin-turbo V-8 combined with three electric motors, a high-voltage battery, and an inverter. A new, larger turbocharger has been adopted with F80-derived low-friction bearings and an innovative heat shield on the turbine casing inspired by the 296 GT3

The 849 Testarossa’s new V-8 turbo has been optimized to ensure a recognizable acoustic signature in all driving conditions, while preserving the distinctive harmonics of Ferrari’s V-8.

Stickerdick’s Garage: There’s a new podcast in town by the guy who brings you the Stickerdick’s award for the coolest ride at many local car events. The milestone 12th episode of Stickerdick’s Garage has host Mark Richardson welcomes back professional race car driver and builder Sean Roe for a candid conversation about why people are drawn to cars.

Listen in with Mark Richardson on personal stories, adventures, truths and “lies” about the things car folks talk about in the garage, or working on our rides! Produced at WJCT Media’s new podcast studio.

Cocoa Village Concours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 434 Delannoy Ave. in Historic Cocoa Village. Free for spectators and $30 day of event for show vehicles in the heart of Historic Cocoa Village’s shaded downtown streets and in Riverfront Park. See an extensive display of vehicles spanning from the early 1900s to contemporary classics, with live entertainment.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.

The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.

Mercedes-Benz’s CONCEPT AMG GT XX has cracked the previous 24-hour record with a 3,404-mile endurance run over 24 hours, breaking the world record with 932 miles to spare.

On the high-speed test track in Nardò, Italy, two CONCEPT AMG GT XX broke a total of 25 long-distance records. That includes doing 4,901 miles in 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds – the equivalent of the Earth’s circumference at the equator.

The AMG GT XX is an EV with axial flux motors and liquid-cooled battery from the upcoming high-performance AMG.EA architecture. AMG claims extremely short charging times, with an average charging power of around 850 kW – far beyond what today’s infrastructure can deliver.

There were 229 cars and 20,000 spectators at the 74th outing of last Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and out of those entries from 31 states in the Union, and 22 countries, Best of Show was a 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo shown by Penny and Lee Anderson Sr. of Naples, Florida.
“This Hispano-Suiza ticks every possible box,” said Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “The underpinnings are technically advanced. The body is meticulously hand-crafted, light, and lovely. It was, notably, commissioned by aperitif scion André Dubonnet, and he raced it in both the Targa Florio and the Coppa Florio.”

Some intriguing concepts graced the events surrounding Pebble, like Ford

celebrating Bronco’s 60th birthday – specifically the 1966 U13 roadster – with an updated version.

Chevrolet gave car enthusiasts two concept cars, the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo, debuting at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. While not intended for production, the pair will serve as inspiration to inform Corvette design language for years to come. Drawing on more than 70 years of performance innovation, these Corvette concepts

are the latest and last of several Corvette concepts to be revealed this year, designed and fabricated at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, MI.

“While the shape of a Corvette has always been expressive and forward-looking, each crease and line has its roots in the generations that came before it. It is aspirational, it is cultural, it is the reason people want to come and work at Chevrolet,” said Phil Zak, executive design director for Chevrolet. “The CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo demonstrate our design teams stepping away from the constraints of production vehicles and unleashing their creativity. Through this exercise, we’ve added to Corvette and defined the design direction for Corvette moving forward.”

Aggressively futuristic, yet unquestionably a Corvette, the CX concept shows what an uncompromised future sports car can be. The athletic exterior design, highlighted by the fighter-jet-inspired cockpit canopy.

The CX.R VGT racecar embodies Corvette’s history while looking to the future of automotive performance.

The familiar yellow and black color scheme honors the Corvette GT racecars of the past 25 years. Designers took CX’s athletic exterior and ramped up the aggression for CX.R VGT with more prominent active aero features and a lower ride height for racetrack-dominating downforce and grip. Weight has been reduced across the car to further emphasize the all-out focus on performance.

Along with the iconic concours, there was also the – 2025 Concours d’Lemons California. And a real – sort of – “flying saucer” landed Worst of Show. Driving in from Tulsa, the Galaxy Glider, as it’s known, is a hand-built creation entered by Chris Wollard.

The newest addition to the National Historic Vehicle Register: the 1979 BMW M1 painted by Andy Warhol!

Presented this Sunday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the historic M1 will make its USA tour debut as part of BMW’s celebration of both 50 years of Art Cars and of BMW North America. As part of the U.S. Tour, Warhol’s automotive masterpiece will travel to Washington, D.C. to be displayed on the National Mall for our annual Cars at the Capital Exhibition on September 17 – 23rd, honoring its National Register designation.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.

The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.

And …

A racing prototype version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie will take on the challenge for overall victory in 2025’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with championship-winning endurance racing partner Heart of Racing competing in at least one Valkyrie in the top Hypercar class of each of the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships [IMSA]. This means that the prototype Valkyrie will participate in sportscar racing’s most prestigious events; Le Mans, and Florida’s Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda, said: performance is the “lifeblood of everything that we do at Aston Martin, and motorsport is the ultimate expression of this pursuit of excellence.”

“We have been present at Le Mans since the earliest days,” he says. “And through those glorious endeavors, we succeeded in winning Le Mans in 1959 and our class 19 times over the past 95 years. Now we return to the scene of those first triumphs aiming to write new history with a racing prototype inspired by the fastest production car Aston Martin has ever built.”

The brand has clinched no less than 19 class victories at Le Mans, including overall triumph in the 1959 race with the iconic DBR1 driven by Roy Salvadori (GBR) and Carroll Shelby (USA). In total, more than 240 drivers have raced Aston Martins at Le Mans over the past 95 years in 27 different chassis and engine combinations, through virtually every era.

The race-optimized carbon-fiber chassised Valkyrie will use a modified version of the Cosworth-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V-12, which in standard form revs to 11,000rpm and develops over 1,000 hp. As with the Valkyrie AMR Pro track-car, the battery-electric hybrid system that features on the road-specification Valkyrie is absent from the race car.

The Amelia concours d’elegance returns for its 29th iteration from Feb. 29 to March 3 of 2024. And the Broad Arrow Amelia Auction will return as the official auction of The Amelia for 2024. The 101st running of the famed Race to the Clouds, an invitational automobile hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak, is set for Sunday.

And David Donohue, driving the Brumos Racing Porsche GT2 RS ClubSport, clocked a new TA1 qualifying record earlier this week, breaking his own record from last year. There are 66 drivers entered for this year’s race.

The Brumos Collection

And legendary Brumos Racing driver Hurley Haywood will be Pikes Peak Hill Climb grand marshal this year.

If that Brumos news isn’t cool enough, how about a Ford van?

But not just any van – how about an electric Ford SuperVan 4.2 with motorsports legend Romain Dumas at the wheel in his eighth appearance at the event. Specifically designed to conquer America’s mountain and showcase the extreme limits of electric power, Ford said the van underwent a complete aerodynamic redesign – over 4,400 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.

There’s three STARD UHP 6-phase motors and STARD’s Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC pouch cells, one motor powering the front and two in the rear for more than 1,050 kW (1,400 hp).  There’s a revised regenerative braking system with carbon ceramic brake discs, magnesium forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero race tires and a minimalist race interior.

The Amelia concours d’elegance returns for its 29th iteration from Feb. 29 to March 3 of 2024. And the Broad Arrow Amelia Auction will return as the official auction of The Amelia for 2024.
