But wait, here’s more…

Genesis has unveiled its new X Skorpio Concept, an off-road concept vehicle inspired by a black scorpion, and the company’s Genesis’ first extreme off-road vehicle. This ambitious creation represents Genesis’ vision to blend daring innovation with luxury, marking the next chapter for Genesis as it connects with the active lifestyle of off-road enthusiasts.
Developing the X Skorpio Concept was a complex and meticulous process.
“The X Skorpio concept is an extreme off-road vehicle designed to be driven across the toughest and harshest terrain,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis. “With a tubular frame, a full roll cage and many components sourced directly from off-road endurance racing specialists, the X Skorpio Concept explores yet another facet of the Genesis brand and highlights our intent to inject emotion and adrenaline into different segments.”

The iconic arching tail of a scorpion inspired the vehicle’s tension-filled curves, while its sleek and functional roof air intake completes the sense of power and resilience.

Genesis’ signature Two-Line design is expertly integrated into the front and rear lamps, offering fully functional lighting, emphasizing harmony and symmetry while creating a striking focal point that symbolizes strength and confidence.

Inside, no stripped-down utilitarian Trophy Truck. Genesis designed the cabin with a singular focus: driver comfort and safety with ergonomic seating, intuitive controls and climate control systems to enhance performance and reduce driver fatigue. The instrument cluster is incorporated into the steering wheel so drivers can conveniently view it without losing sight of the landscape ahead. The interior is also equipped with a sliding display, which reconfigures between solo-rider and co-piloted modes — a centered position for the driver or sliding to the passenger for copilot navigation.

Equipped with a high-performance V-8 delivering 1,100 hp and 850 pound-feet of torque, the X Skorpio Concept is equipped with 18-inch beadlock wheels paired with custom 40-inch off-road tires, providing superior grip and durability for rugged terrain. It is also outfitted with Brembo Motorsport Brakes, providing enhanced stopping power and optimal responsiveness, ensuring the driver retains full control. Additionally, the vehicle is constructed using an innovative combination of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar, achieving a perfect balance of durability and reduced weight.

Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamps using existing photographs by Humberto “Beto” Mendoza (“Eight Figures,” “El Rey,” “The Golden Rose”) and Philip Gordon (“Let the Good Times Roll/Soy Como Soy,” “Pocket Change”). Danny Alvarado added the pinstriping on the stamps.

The Amelia Concours returns March 5–8, 2026, to Amelia Island, – Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree. And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says. Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion.

This Porsche 908-004 “Lang Heck” (1968) is the only surviving example in its original early Monza configuration.

Driven by Scarfiotti & Mitter at the 1968 Monza 1000km and later owned for 40 years by Gérard Larrousse, this sculptural legend is considered by many to be the most beautiful Porsche race car ever built.

FYI – Franchitti will drive in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Feb. 28 in St. Petersburg, driving the No. 1 Toyota for Tricon in partnership between the team, Jimmie Johnson and Legacy Motor Club. And Franchitti will be part of The Amelia’s Legends of Speed dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 at the hotel; Tickets are $355 per person, including dinner and open bar – this event is for ages 21+.

The concours is now on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes. More details and ticket pre-sales are at ameliaconcours.com.

Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff

Registration is open for the annual Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff presented by Sunoco: Set for Friday March 6, the day before The Amelia concours on Saturday. About 150 must-see cars, from legendary collector cars to iconic race machines, are expected starting at 1 p.m. that Friday on Fernandina Beach’s Main Beach Park, just a few miles north of the Ritz-Carlton. Spectator entry is free, while vehicle entry, limited to 150 pre-registered cars, is $45 per. All cars must preregister.

Why volunteer at the Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff? Well, the subject line says it all: it’ll earn you a free entry for your car into the show and more.

On March 6, we’ll fill Amelia Island’s Main Beach Park with some of the automotive world’s finest and most desirable cars for a one-of-a-kind celebration marking the start of the Amelia Concours weekend. To make this happen, we need 20 volunteers to don safety vests and help us guide cars onto the show field and into their designated parking areas from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the day of the show. Volunteers who have cars entered in the show will be allowed to park on the show field before the gates open to non-volunteer registrants. Volunteers will also receive a free T-shirt and an automatic refund of the price paid for one vehicle entry. You must arrive early and check in for your shift at the 11:00 a.m. volunteer meeting to receive these benefits. Full volunteer duties are listed on the volunteer registration page.

All volunteers must pre-register, and assignments are limited, so click here to register as a volunteer now!

Thanks to National Parts DepotMalihini CustomsRadnor Hunt Concours the city of Fernandina Beach for making this event possible.

Want to show your car, but can’t commit to volunteering? You can apply for your car to be in the show here – entry fee is $45 per car.

Is your car less “fine and desirable” and more “barely drivable”? The Concours d’Lemons will be sharing the show field with the Amelia Island Kickoff and is still accepting hooptie registrations. (Registration fee refunds for Amelia Island Kickoff volunteers are not applicable to Concours d’Lemons registrations).

Looking to view the show without volunteering or entering a car? Spectator entry is free and does not require registration.

But wait, here’s more…

Toyota is teasing a new car, but this image does not reveal too much of the Japanese automaker’s latest, other than to say “Something new is on the horizon.”

Our guess is some kind of  SUV, based on the rear end design and the wide twin light bar taillights. The roofline is tall, the fenders and overall shape a bit blocky outline, with a fender line that flows out and down to emphasize some width.

Maybe we see it at the Detroit Auto Show (Jan 14-25), Chicago Auto Show (Feb 7-16), or the New York International Auto Show (Mar 31-Apr 12). And don’t forget the Jacksonville Auto Show (Feb 27-Mar 1).

Last year’s The Amelia Concours d’Elegance’s Best of Show-winning 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B has been named The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best 2025.

Presented annually by The Peninsula Hotels, The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award brings together Best of Show winners from leading global concours and selects one vehicle as the overall recipient. The 2025 award was announced this week at The Peninsula Paris.

The car, owned by The Keller Collection, is believed to be one of the prototypes for the 1938 Mille Miglia and was ordered new in 1938 by the famous Italian racing champion Giuseppe Farina. It is the only 8C 2900 bodied by Farina.

“The Alfa Romeo 8C represents a moment when performance, design and craftsmanship aligned in a way that still resonates today,” said McKeel Hagerty, CEO and Chairman of Hagerty and The Amelia Concours. “When the best of the best compete on the world stage, car enthusiasts everywhere win. My thanks to Deborah Keller for her caring stewardship, The Peninsula Classics jury for their studied deliberation and The Amelia Concours team for their guest-centered excellence.”

“The winning 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B represents the pinnacle of prewar performance engineering,” added Christian Philippsen, co-founder of The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award. “It served as the fastest and most exclusive Italian automobile of its era, and we could not be more thrilled to recognize it as the best of the best.”

The Legends of Speed dinner with Franchitti is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 at the hotel; Tickets are $355 per person, including dinner and open bar – this event is for ages 21+.

The concours is now on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes. More details and ticket pre-sales are at ameliaconcours.com.

Quick Take: 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX Prestige

EV Rider reviewer Dan Scanlan takes a test drive in a 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid SX Prestige – the minivan that looks like an SUV – a bit.

This is the facelifted, fourth-generation of Kia’s minivan, a classic one-box shape with a more aggressive nose and squared-off roof. The grill and stacked LED headlights look macho, while the side design has some smoked alloy accents, black lower body accent and a much lower look accented by Panthera Metal paint.

Inside, a surprise to all those soccer dads after the power doors glide open – leather second row seats that recline, with leg rests and TV monitors, plus power adjustment. Up front, a wide – almost 25 inch – infotainment screen in front of the driver, and audio/main menu panel for the co-pilot. There’s a solid Bose sound system, plus back seat video monitor and Passenger Talk to check on the kids in back. The third row even has adult room.

As for power, a turbocharged 1.6 liter four with 241.7-hp and 270.5 lb.-ft. of torque combined, 74.4 hp of that from a 270-volt lithium-Ion battery and 54kW motor electric motor – 60 mph in 7.9 seconds, and it averaged 27 mpg.

So read lots more about this, and see more interior and exterior images by EV Rider reviewer Dan Scanlan 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid: Mix Of Minivan & Limousine. And check out lots more views of EV, PHEV and ICE vehicles at EV Rider.

2023 image by Brian Walsh

Jacksonville’s Brian “Racer Walsh” will be back at the Rolex 24/Daytona International Speedway this weekend with his, and his famous late father Jerry’s #93 Purple 1971 Ford Pinto on display in the fan zone. The car will be there till Sunday afternoon. No on track action, but Brian says that it’s “always fun to be at the big house.

Images from Aston Martin

What will be racing in the round-the-clock Rolex 24 is Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Hypercar, making its debut in the opening round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship [IMSA].

The Aston Martin THOR Team-run Valkyrie’s participation in the 64th running of the event marks the first occasion in more than 40 years that the British ultra-luxury performance brand will have challenged for overall honors with a works car in the top GTP class.

The racecar is developed from its production sibling by Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing [THOR] with a race-optimized carbon fiber chassis, modified 6.5-liter V-12 with over 1,000 hp.

The Valkyrie is also the only entry derived from a road-going hypercar competing in either North America’s premier endurance series or the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC].

Full-season works IMSA drivers and IMSA GT champions Roman De Angelis (CAN) and Ross Gunn (GBR), will be joined in the driver line-up by works FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] Valkyrie racers Alex Riberas (ESP) and Marco Sørensen (DEN). All four drivers will make their Rolex 24 at Daytona GTP class debut.

“It’s awesome to be back starting the year at Daytona; the first Rolex 24 for Valkyrie,” Gunn says. “Of course, we have our eyes on a finish and on trying to understand a bit more how the race flows in GTP on this track. I can’t wait to work with the Aston Martin THOR Team again, it’s been a short winter but there has been a lot of work going on in the background. I’m eager to see how all the learnings we’ve made over the winter come to fruition in practice. Daytona is always a great start to the year and has a brilliant atmosphere. It sets the tone for the rest of the season.”

The Amelia Concours – Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at the event in early March. But wait, here’s more…

Photos courtesy of Alfa Romeo

At the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, Alfa Romeo presented the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa – only 10 will be made – that it says combines Italian excellence, extreme performance and absolute exclusivity.

The first fruit of the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa, it was developed as part of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE universe, creating  unique, technologically advanced objects deeply rooted in Italian excellence, Alfa says.

It is the most efficient Quadrifoglio model ever: the new low-drag kit in carbon fiber – consisting of appendages on the front bumper, a pair of profiles on the bottom of the bodywork, dedicated side skirts, and the spectacular rear wing – generates up to five times more downforce than the production version, ensuring exceptional stability at all speeds. At 186 mph, it reaches a peak of 300-plus pounds of downforce with very high aerodynamic efficiency values.

The exterior is embellished with a hand-painted iridescent paint reminiscent of the shades of the Luna Rossa hull, a  two-tone contrast – bonnet, roof and rear in black “boat deck” paired with gray. For the first time, the legendary Alfa Romeo logos come in red, a symbol of passion and competitive spirit.

Inside, the Sparco seats stand out, upholstered with textures and graphics inspired by the Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) used by the boat’s crew. The dashboard is embellished with original material from Luna Rossa sails, a detail that conveys the synergy with the racing world on the water. Power is as standard in a Guilia Quadrifoglio – 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 with 520 hp and eight-speed automatic transmission, with a mechanical self-locking differential out back.

 Photos courtesy of Nissan

The 2027 Nissan Z – aka Fairlady Z – got a quiet reveal at the recent 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. And the redesign has a sharper face with some serious heritage cues. First comes a redesigned two-piece nose with simple bar under a retro-240Z design grill, plus fresh 19-inch wheels. Inside, a tan interior that shows a 6-speed manual shifter.

A NISMO version also gets a 6-speed manual, retuned ECU and throttle mapping, upgraded dampers and GT-R-derived brakes. The 3-liter twin-turbo V6 remains untouched.

Oh yes – the Nissan badge on the nose reverts to a Z emblem.

No word on price or when we see the new Z stateside.

The Amelia Concours – Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at the event in early March.

Quick Spin: 2026 Buick Enclave Avenir

EV Rider reviewer Dan Scanlan takes a test drive in a 2026 Buick Enclave Avenir – the flagship of the fleet.

This Buick gets the Avenir name from a classy 2016 concept car that was called a “glimpse into the future.” That future a few years later is a distinctive mid-size all-wheel-drive crossover with a redesigned-for-2026 face with wide grill, slick LED lights and a sleek look.

Inside, it has three adult-size rows of leather in its long wheelbase, heated and cooled up front, with a long display screeen for all infotainment needs. The 16-speaker Bose audio system, plus wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and HD radio. The center row reclines and slides – and there’s room in back for luggage along with 6 to 7 folks. And its turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine has 328 hp – quick and fairly fuel-efficient, if a bit snarly.

So read lots more about this, and see more interior and exterior images by EV Rider reviewer Dan Scanlan – Buick Smooth: Enclave Avenir Glides Into 2026. And check out lots more views of EV, PHEV and ICE vehicles at EV Rider.
