Kindred Motorsports has a new bespoke Grayback Electric Vehicle Platform to develop EV Broncos and other vintage car or truck.
Named after the USS Grayback (SSG-574), a U.S. Navy guided missile submarine built at Mare Island, where Kindred Motorworks is headquartered, the Grayback EVP allows Kindred to integrate sophisticated electric powertrains into virtually any vintage vehicle, it says.
The Grayback EVP manages heating, cooling, battery management, vehicle controls, power distribution, battery boxes, and the car’s charging system.

Ford’s Dearborn employees are gonna have to pack up and move out soon – they have a new home for the first time in 70 years. In a staff letter this week, Bill Ford and Jim Farley told the folks that the majority of its new World Headquarters building on Oakwood Boulevard will be complete this year, and continue through 2027 on a final section of the site.
Up to 4,000 people can work from at the new HQ, versus 2,000 in the iconic 12-story, 950,000-sq.-ft. Glass House that served as the nerve center of global operations.
“This is part of a larger investment in our people and our facilities across the globe. We are committed to providing employees with world-class workspaces, modern technology, and the best tools to do their life’s best work—from our global offices to our manufacturing floors,” the letter says.
The new Ford HQ is 2.1 million square feet, with six design studios, a design showroom to conduct a full product review in one unified space with 10 turntables and a 64-foot micro-LED screen for comparing digital, full-size vehicles. There are large event spaces for hundreds of employees, and a 160,000 square foot food hall.
As for the 70-year-old Glass House, it will be sustainably decommissioned and ultimately demolished over the course of roughly 18 months as we prepare to repurpose the site as an asset to our teams and our community.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.
And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.
Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.

Ferrari has unveiled its latest sports car, the 849 Testarossa, replacing the SF90 Stradale in the range as a hybrid plug-in super sports berlinetta. Equipped with three electric motors alongside the mid-rear twin-turbo V-8, it will deliver a total of 1.035-hp, more than the car it replaces.
The 849 Testarossa takes its place at the top of Ferrari’s range thanks to its performance, as well as its futuristic yet deeply historically rooted design.
Testa Rossa (red head) was first used on the 500 TR in 1956 to describe the color of the cam covers of some of Ferrari’s most extreme, high-performance and iconic racing engines, before being used as a name for one of the marque’s most famous road-going models, the 1984 Testarossa.

The heart of the 849 Testarossa revolves around its twin-turbo eight-cylinder internal combustion engine. The hybrid group, consisting of a rear electric motor and two units installed on the front axle, is part of an on-demand four-wheel drive system and torque vectoring system.
From a styling point of view, the 849 Testarossa marks a revolution in the concept of a Ferrari V8 mid-rear berlinetta: the inspiration taken from 1970s Sports Prototypes, together with sharp and geometric lines, creates a unique and timeless design.
The cockpit is even more enveloping and ergonomic than before: the central sail motif with the integrated gear-change gate, inspired by the F80, improves the positioning of components and makes them more accessible.

The new steering wheel, equipped with mechanical buttons (including the iconic engine start button), elevates the driving experience while maintaining the high functionality of the latest-generation Ferrari steering wheels. Finally, a new HMI system makes interaction with the car even simpler and more intuitive.
Its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system has a twin-turbo V-8 combined with three electric motors, a high-voltage battery, and an inverter. A new, larger turbocharger has been adopted with F80-derived low-friction bearings and an innovative heat shield on the turbine casing inspired by the 296 GT3

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.
And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.
Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.

Mercedes-Benz’s CONCEPT AMG GT XX has cracked the previous 24-hour record with a 3,404-mile endurance run over 24 hours, breaking the world record with 932 miles to spare.
On the high-speed test track in Nardò, Italy, two CONCEPT AMG GT XX broke a total of 25 long-distance records. That includes doing 4,901 miles in 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds – the equivalent of the Earth’s circumference at the equator.
The AMG GT XX is an EV with axial flux motors and liquid-cooled battery from the upcoming high-performance AMG.EA architecture. AMG claims extremely short charging times, with an average charging power of around 850 kW – far beyond what today’s infrastructure can deliver.
Since October 2022, the hypercar has remained the fastest production vehicle ever on the iconic circuit – having even beaten its own record. Drivers maintained a constant speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), stopping only to recharge. After each charging stop, the vehicle accelerated back to 300 km/h (186 mph) – over and over, day and night, for eight days.

And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.
Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.

There were 229 cars and 20,000 spectators at the 74th outing of last Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and out of those entries from 31 states in the Union, and 22 countries, Best of Show was a 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo shown by Penny and Lee Anderson Sr. of Naples, Florida. “This Hispano-Suiza ticks every possible box,” said Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “The underpinnings are technically advanced. The body is meticulously hand-crafted, light, and lovely. It was, notably, commissioned by aperitif scion André Dubonnet, and he raced it in both the Targa Florio and the Coppa Florio.”

Chevrolet gave car enthusiasts two concept cars, the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo, debuting at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. While not intended for production, the pair will serve as inspiration to inform Corvette design language for years to come. Drawing on more than 70 years of performance innovation, these Corvette concepts
are the latest and last of several Corvette concepts to be revealed this year, designed and fabricated at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, MI.
“While the shape of a Corvette has always been expressive and forward-looking, each crease and line has its roots in the generations that came before it. It is aspirational, it is cultural, it is the reason people want to come and work at Chevrolet,” said Phil Zak, executive design director for Chevrolet. “The CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo demonstrate our design teams stepping away from the constraints of production vehicles and unleashing their creativity. Through this exercise, we’ve added to Corvette and defined the design direction for Corvette moving forward.”

The familiar yellow and black color scheme honors the Corvette GT racecars of the past 25 years. Designers took CX’s athletic exterior and ramped up the aggression for CX.R VGT with more prominent active aero features and a lower ride height for racetrack-dominating downforce and grip. Weight has been reduced across the car to further emphasize the all-out focus on performance.

Along with the iconic concours, there was also the – 2025 Concours d’Lemons California. And a real – sort of – “flying saucer” landed Worst of Show. Driving in from Tulsa, the Galaxy Glider, as it’s known, is a hand-built creation entered by Chris Wollard.
The newest addition to the National Historic Vehicle Register: the 1979 BMW M1 painted by Andy Warhol!
Presented this Sunday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the historic M1 will make its USA tour debut as part of BMW’s celebration of both 50 years of Art Cars and of BMW North America. As part of the U.S. Tour, Warhol’s automotive masterpiece will travel to Washington, D.C. to be displayed on the National Mall for our annual Cars at the Capital Exhibition on September 17 – 23rd, honoring its National Register designation.
National Historic Vehicle Register
Warhol made his mark on this M1 race car in 1979 as the 4th BMW in the company’s Art Car series launch in 1975. The M1 raced in Le Mans, where it took a second in class finish, and a sixth-place finish overall with Warhol’s hand laid brushstrokes adorning the angular Giorgetto Giugiaro designed body.
This vehicle is the 37th automobile to be commemorated and documented as national heritage under the National Historic Vehicle Register and U.S. Dept. of the Interior, National Park Service, Historic American Engineering Record. The photographs, line drawings, and history of this vehicle will be archived in the Library of Congress for future generations in perpetuity and recognizes the car as being historically significant.
Cocoa Village Concours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 434 Delannoy Ave. in Historic Cocoa Village. Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is the 2026 honoree at The Amelia concours d’elegance in early March.
And the concours d’elegance – the classic car gathering at the huge weekend classic car event on Amelia Island, is set for a Saturday, and not a Sunday as in past, Hagerty says.
Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and is also a 4-time IndyCar champion. The concours on Saturday, March 7th will see a collection of his race cars joining the annual display of 200-plus classics this year including Can-Am Racers and Corvettes.
The next Caffeine & Octane Jacksonville is set for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, at The Avenues mall at 10300 Southside Blvd.
The First Coast Miata Club’s paddock at C&O is open to all Miatas, so roll in top down on Saturday!

The LEGO Speed Champions Bugatti Centodieci captures the unmistakable character of the full-scale Bugatti hypercar, incorporating many of its defining features in intricate detail. Presented in a white finish with black accents, it mirrors the car’s striking, sculptural presence.

Bill Warner, a Jacksonville businessman, car collector and magazine photographer, founded The Amelia in 1996. The automotive charity event is always held the first weekend of March at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island and the 10th and 18th fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island. The event has generated more than $4 million in donations to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, Spina Bifida of Jacksonville and Shop with Cops.
