Touch A Truck – What Moves Clay: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 6 at the Clay County Fairgrounds on Florida 16 in Green Cove Springs. This free event will bring dozens of service vehicles for kids to see up close, plus food trucks, indoor and outdoor activities and free giveaways. Visitors can view the vehicles during quiet time from 9 to 11 a.m., then see them in action during the lights and sounds portion, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Innovative cars that pushed the limits of automotive design from the 1960s to 1980s will take center stage in the Petersen Automotive Museum’s newest exhibit. “The Wedge Revolution: Cars on the Cutting Edge,” set to open on August 2.

Co-curated with Tesla Chief Designer and wedge design aficionado Franz von Holzhausen, it showcases a wide range of vehicles embodying the bold, angular styling that defined this unique era in automotive design.

The display will showcase a diverse range of production cars and concept models from renowned designers and manufacturers, including early and influential vehicles like the 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero (seen above) 1966 Cannara I, the 1976 Chevrolet Aerovette, the 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400 “Periscopio…..

…and the 1979 Aston Martin Bulldog (seen above). The exhibit will also include modern references to wedge design, such as the Tesla Cybertruck and the 2016 Lo-Res Car. Designs by Marcello Gandini, Sergio Coggiola, William Towns and Jerry Palmer will also be featured.

Tim Kuniskis is now the head of Stellantis’ American brands and North America marketing and retail strategy, reporting to CEO/COO Antonio Filosa.

This newly created role will see Kuniskis work across the brand portfolio to further build and enhance the connections customers have with the company’s products, marketing efforts and dealer network in the region, Stellantis said.

The Florida Highway Patrol has entered the 2025 American Association of State Troopers ‘Best Looking Cruiser’ competition – As back-to-back defending champions, FHP is  asking Floridians to vote for its new Corvette cruiser as the best-looking in the nation. Votes can be made through a noon July 11 deadline at www.surveymonkey.com/r/BestLookingCruiser2025 – the cruiser with the most votes will grace the cover of the AAST 2026 calendar.

This contest is a yearly chance to bring attention and awareness to the American Association of State Troopers, which was originally formed by Florida State Troopers in 1989 and is headquartered in Tallahassee. Proceeds from the calendar sales support the AAST Foundation, which offers educational scholarships to the dependents of troopers who are AAST members. Money raised also provides the line of duty death benefits to surviving family members and assistance to troopers who have lost their homes during natural disasters. 

This year’s FHP submission was taken during a Miami sunset, the mid-engined Vette seized in a joint criminal investigation into a nationwide drug trafficking organization with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

A kind gentleman who intimately knew his cars… knew what he wanted to own… and cared for them as he cared for his friends.

Here he was with his rare Pontiac Star Chief at last month’s Caffeine & Octane, always extremely generous with his knowledge of the cars in his collection that he brought there and elsewhere to show, specifically so anyone who asked would learn about them. His kindness will always be remembered … farewell.

The Petersen Automotive Museum’s newest exhibit is “Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ’80s and ’90s,” with an immersive look into the cars, fashion and technology that shaped two of the most transformative decades in automotive and pop culture history.

On display in the Mullin Grand Salon, more than 30 vehicles and a range of interactive elements. Standout vehicles include a 1995 McLaren F1, the one-off 1995 Lotec C1000 supercar, the legendary Audi S1 E2 Group B rally car, and the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder replica (see above) featured in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” as well as a “Back to the Future” Delorean DMC-12 (also above).

The display also recreates a cultural backdrop with retro arcade games and mannequins dressed for the occasion in period-correct outfits. The vintage arcade and video game installation – plus a Pax-Man hot rod (see above)was curated by the Museum of the Game and Griffin McLemore.

A new race truck is “Ramming” its way into the 2026 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.

Ending a 13-year break, the new Ram 1500 concept race truck has been unveiled to preview the design for next year. The news of Ram’s return to NASCAR was officially announced by Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram brand, during a live NASCAR event at the Michigan International Speedway. 

“For more than a decade, customers and our dealer network asked about getting back into NASCAR. The desire was always there, but we didn’t have a plan that delivered the last tenth and following just didn’t fit our DNA,” said Kuniskis. “Now we have a solid plan that will set us apart from the field and will bring fresh new interest and engagement to America’s motorsport.”

In conjunction with the news, the brand showed off its “Ram-Demption” campaign, featuring Kuniskis behind the wheel of Ram’s NASCAR concept truck at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, with the iconic Goodyear Blimp and jets flying overhead. Want to drive a Porsche race car – legally – on the street?

Well, here’s a brief taste of what Top Gear found out with the street model of the current Porsche 963 Hypercar – named the 963 RSP. An extreme one-off based on the IMSA championship and WEC championship winning machine, the car closely follows the design direction taken by a very special 917 (parked behind it above) 50 years ago. Fittingly, it debuted on the streets near the Circuit de la Sarthe – home of this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans – alongside the car that inspired its creation.

The work of a team from Porsche AG, Porsche Penske Motorsport and Porsche Cars North America in partnership with motorsport legend Roger Penske, whose initials form the name of the car, the 963 RSP was influenced by the trailblazing 917 and an audacious drive that took place half a century ago.

In April 1975, a 917 (chassis 30) – the most advanced endurance race car at that time – made an extraordinary journey, not on the track, but on public roads. From the factory in Zuffenhausen, it traveled to Paris – at the wheel was its enigmatic owner, who insisted on as few changes as possible to the car, which remains in France, and on the road, to this day.

“This really started out as a “what if?” – a passion project by a small team of enthusiasts at Penske and at Porsche who together imagined a version of the 963 that really resembled as closely as possible the spirit and appearance of the Count Rossi 917,” said Porsche Cars North America President and CEO Timo Resch, who conceived of the original idea. “The 917 from the story was every inch a race car – albeit one driven on the road – and we took the same approach with the 963 RSP. It uses beautiful materials of the best quality available, but is still every bit a race car underneath.”

The 963 RSP is the first of its kind to be painted; a unique challenge due to the nature of the carbon fiber and Kevlar® bodywork – finished in Martini Silver. It features uniquely altered bodywork and a bespoke tan leather and Alcantara interior inspired by the trim choices made by Count Rossi 50 years ago. A dedicated mechanical and electronic setup were configured for its debut on the streets near Le Mans – including a raised ride height and softened dampers, as well as a reprogrammed control unit to allow for the headlights and taillights to operate closer to those of a road car. 

“That was an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime,” said Timo Bernhard, who was at the wheel of the 963 RSP for its first miles on the road. “Driving down a public road with a 917 beside me – it felt unreal. The car behaved perfectly – it felt a little friendlier and more forgiving than the normal 963 – and felt super special and a lot more comfortable, especially as I was not needing all my safety gear.”

Inside, a single piece carbon seat trimmed in leather, leg cushions in the footwell as well as the roof lining and pillars retrimmed in light Alcantara while the steering wheel – where the majority of the vehicle’s functions are located – has been finished in leather. There’s a detachable 3D-printed cup holder capable of securely holding a Porsche travel mug.

Time to cut the mustard: At 2 p.m. Friday, during Indianapolis 500 race week’s annual Carb Day festivities, Fans can watch the “Wienie 500” live on the FOX Sports app and across @INDYCARonFOX social accounts. FOX Sports says this is the first time in a decade that all six vehicles in the company fleet will “meat-up” at the same location, and it’s the first time they’ve ever raced. Each Wienermobile will represent a regional favorite — the New York Dog for the East, Slaw Dog for the Southeast, Chilli Dog for the South, Chi Dog for the Midwest, Seattle Dog for the Northwest and Sonoran Dog for the Southwest.

The CALLUM E-Type isn’t a restoration – it’s a reinvention, says ex-Jaguar designer Ian Callum.

Yes, this is a concept of a possible limited-production E-Type, but nothing like original designer Malcolm Sayer’s well-known 2-seater.

Callum says there will only be a few, and is open to “Serious enquiries only.”

The concept is done in a clean matte gray, no chrome trim and familiar-looking, but updated LED headlights and taillights.

Inside, a super clean design with a hint of wood, some simple toggle switches, and small digital displays for the needed stuff, over touch controls.

This is the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a540 hp EV that can hit 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds, with a carbon superstructure.

It has separate control of the two motors, the battery is positioned under the floor, lowering the center of gravity. It has a dedicated drift-assist function and rally-style vertical handbrake, with 540 hp

The FHP has a new patrol car for catching bad folks – a Chevrolet Corvette C8 seized from a drug dealer and repurposed for patrol functions, community outreach, recruitment, and public safety campaign awareness. And for fun, the troopers produced a video of their new black and yellow coupe, filmed on a closed course under controlled conditions.

McMurtry Automotive has driven its record-breaking Spéirling hyper track car upside down.

The British hypercar’s proprietary fan system produces downforce to ‘suck’ it to the ‘floor’ of a specially-built rotating rig. The technology demonstration took place at McMurtry’s headquarters in Gloucestershire, England and was attended by employees and others.

This same vehicle also smashed the Top Gear Test Track record by 3.1 seconds. The previous record holder was a V-10 Renault R24 Formula 1 race car from 2004. It also holds the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb outright record and the Laguna Seca Corkscrew Hillclimb record.

The McMurtry Spéirling is a British-built, single-seat, electric hypercar envisioned by inventor Sir David McMurtry, who passed away in December. Its downforce is available at any speed, even at a standstill. Other hypercars and racecars can only produce downforce at high speeds using aerodynamic surfaces.

During the record attempt, Thomas Yates drove the Spéirling up a ramp and onto a purpose-built platform. The floor of the platform then rotated, fully inverting the hypercar. The Downforce-on-Demand system created a sufficient vacuum underneath the hypercar’s floor to hold it upside down, exceeding the force of gravity. Once fully inverted, Thomas drove forward, entirely unsupported. 

This system also enables the battery-electric hypercar to accelerate to 60 mph in just 1.5 seconds, complete a quarter mile in 8 seconds, and corner at more than 3gs.
