Nissan has unveiled renditions of its Hyper Adventure, the second vehicle in its series of advanced EV concepts for the Japan Mobility Show on October 25. The digital concept is a sports SUV designed for people passionate about outdoor adventures and an eco-friendly lifestyle. Its large-capacity battery doubles as an energy source, allowing users to power up their gadgets, light up campsites, or even recharge their electric jet skis.

The exterior features dynamic body panels that express activity, thanks to the distinctive diagonal line on the side of the vehicle that accentuates the spacious cabin within. The aerodynamics are further enhanced by glass that integrates the roof and side windows and the flush surface of the rear end. The wheels and front and rear bumpers are outfitted with crampons, or snow traction gears, to allow the car to drive through snowy areas with power and ease.

The instrument panel connects to the bottom of the windshield, serving as a screen with a wide field of view – as if the body of the vehicle is transparent. The interior also boasts cargo space for outdoor equipment such as tents, skis, or even a kayak.  –

The rear bench seat can rotate 180 degrees on an axle and create a comfortable sitting area that faces out of the vehicle’s rear. This feature includes automatic extendable and retractable steps.

A racing prototype version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie will take on the challenge for overall victory in 2025’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with championship-winning endurance racing partner Heart of Racing competing in at least one Valkyrie in the top Hypercar class of each of the FIA World Endurance Championship [WEC] and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships [IMSA]. This means that the prototype Valkyrie will participate in sportscar racing’s most prestigious events; Le Mans, and Florida’s Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda, said: performance is the “lifeblood of everything that we do at Aston Martin, and motorsport is the ultimate expression of this pursuit of excellence.”

“We have been present at Le Mans since the earliest days,” he says. “And through those glorious endeavors, we succeeded in winning Le Mans in 1959 and our class 19 times over the past 95 years. Now we return to the scene of those first triumphs aiming to write new history with a racing prototype inspired by the fastest production car Aston Martin has ever built.”

The brand has clinched no less than 19 class victories at Le Mans, including overall triumph in the 1959 race with the iconic DBR1 driven by Roy Salvadori (GBR) and Carroll Shelby (USA). In total, more than 240 drivers have raced Aston Martins at Le Mans over the past 95 years in 27 different chassis and engine combinations, through virtually every era.

The race-optimized carbon-fiber chassised Valkyrie will use a modified version of the Cosworth-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V-12, which in standard form revs to 11,000rpm and develops over 1,000 hp. As with the Valkyrie AMR Pro track-car, the battery-electric hybrid system that features on the road-specification Valkyrie is absent from the race car.

The Amelia concours d’elegance returns for its 29th iteration from Feb. 29 to March 3 of 2024. And the Broad Arrow Amelia Auction will return as the official auction of The Amelia for 2024. The Amelia Auction will be extended to two days for 2024 (February 29 – March 1) following a successful inaugural event that saw $31 million in total sales and 81 percent of all lots sold. Consignment information is available at broadarrowauctions.com.

 Courtesy Porsche/Pixar

The stars of Disney and Pixar’s “Cars” will reunite at Rennsport Reunion 7 between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1st at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The full size Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen now call the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, and the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles their respective homes. For this event, the two museums have loaned Sally and Lightning to allow them to be brought together once again.
“You can’t have a celebration of motorsport and Porsche without Lightning McQueen and Sally Carrera!” explains Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise of Pixar Animation Studios. “The life size cars were created back in 2006 for the premiere of the original Cars movie, held at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte. Sally was made from a real 996-generation 911 and actually runs and drives. Sally and Lightning often travelled together to celebrate key moments and they got to see a lot of the world as new “Cars” movies were launched. In the past decade, though, they’ve been on display far apart, an even on different continents – it’s wonderful that they’re being reunited at Rennsport after so many years.”
Both Ward and Cars production designer, Bob Pauley (who originally designed Sally over 20 years ago) will be attending the Rennsport Reunion 7.
The one-off 911, equipped with dozens of unique parts and finishes created in collaboration between Pixar and Porsche, sold for $3.6 million at the Sotheby’s auction at Monterey. Every dollar of the sale price was split between Girls Inc. and the UNHCR, respectively providing help and educational support to young girls across America and aid to children and families as a result of the war in Ukraine. More information about Rennsport, and how to obtain tickets, can be found here.

Aston Martin introduced the new DB12 Volante, companion to the recently introduced DB12 Coupe – the first in the marques next generation of sports cars.

Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Amedeo Felisa, said: “For many of our customers, roof down driving is the greatest pleasure. Aston Martin Volantes have captured that emotion and expressed it in unique style for more than six decades. With the new DB12 Volante we have changed the rules, creating a car that intensifies those feelings by preserving all the purity and exceptional sporting capabilities of the DB12 Coupe. A rare and true sporting convertible in every respect, this is a car to challenge preconceptions and find a new generation of Volante customer”.

Developed in parallel with its Coupe stablemate, DB12 Volante’s key structural elements, such as the rear suspension upper mounting points and lateral connections, as well as the engine cross brace, boost its global torsional stiffness by near 5%. Of equal importance for vehicle integrity and dynamic performance, the mounting points for all suspension attachments were extensively upgraded laterally (140% on the front axle).

There’s a 4-liter Twin-Turbo V-8 with 671 hp at 6000rpm and 590 lb ft of torque between 2750-6000 rpm, 60mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. Power is fed through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

Production of DB12 Volante is due to commence in Q3 of 2023, with first deliveries scheduled to begin during Q4 2023.

And …

Automobili Lamborghini says it’s made its exotic cars in many colors.

The British model Twiggy, an icon of the time, chose lime green for her Miura S (still used today with the name “Verde Scandal”) with two orange stripes along its length. In the legendary scene at the start of the 1969 film “The Italian Job”, the Miura climbing up the Great St Bernard Pass is orange, even if the exact name is “Rosso Miura” (Miura Red).  The Shah of Iran ordered one of his four Miuras, the very limited edition SVJ, one of only four produced, in the splendid “Bleu Ischia Metallizzato” (metallic blue), matched with white leather interiors.

 Courtesy Automobili Lamborghini

The Diablo started out in mainly pastel colors in the early years, while towards the end of production there were many metallic shades, such as the magnificent “Oro Elios” (gold). The Diablo also came in purple.

Today there are more than 360 colors to choose from, 60 of which are divided into five families (Sporty, Contemporary, Eclectic, Classic and Technical) reflecting the company’s heritage, its current product range and its future direction, without forgetting the possibility of having a specifically-developed finish. A further 300 colors are part of the Ad Personam palette, including those with special tones and more sophisticated technologies.

The Amelia concours d’elegance returns for its 29th iteration from Feb. 29 to March 3 of 2024. And the Broad Arrow Amelia Auction will return as the official auction of The Amelia for 2024. And …

Ol’ Parnelli Jones would be proud to see what Hennessey Performance has done with its latest mod of a modern Ford Mustang.

Looking as evil as Jones’s 1969 Bud Moore Boss 302 Ford Mustang, Hennessey announces high-performance supercharged upgrades for the seventh-generation 2024 Ford S650 Mustang Dark Horse. Fitted with Ford’s naturally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5-liter V-8, Hennessey upgrades the Dark Horse with GT500 connecting rods and a dual throttle body to earn a factory rating of 500 hp. The 2024 Dark Horse may be ordered with either a Tremec 6-speed manual (3.73 gears) or with Ford’s 10-speed automatic (3.55 gearing).

Regardless of transmission choice, the track-focused Mustang features upgraded multi-piston Brembo performance brakes on both axles.

A high-performance supercharger and a high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors, and a new fuel pump gives the ‘H850’ Dark Horse 850 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque – a 70 percent increase in power!

To complement its potent powerplant, the Hennessey ‘H850’ Ford Mustang Dark Horse is visually enhanced with a carbon-fiber front splitter, carbon-fiber side skirts, and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler.

Production will begin later this year.

The Triumph Motor Company showcases a new electric TR25 concept car, created by design house Makkina.

Unveiled in London, the TR25 pays particular homage to the record-breaking ‘Jabbeke’ Triumph TR2, which broke the land speed record for production cars under two liters in May 1953.

The ‘Jabbeke’ TR2 was a pre-production prototype featuring streamlined parts including an under-shield, rear-wing spats, and a metal cockpit cover.

Makkina’s EV sports car retains the TR’s distinctive headlights with an aerodynamically-optimized exterior, the single-seat configuration with optional flip-out jump seat for the passenger. Using an all-electric BMW i3S as a platform, Makkina has been able to give the TR25 a near 50-50 weight distribution. With a minimalistic interior, the TR25’s cockpit aims to place the driver with minimal instruments and controls. A self-centering dial in the steering wheel displays all vital information while a central binnacle will show road speed, charge levels, and battery range.

The 101st running of the famed Race to the Clouds, an invitational automobile hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak, is set for Sunday.

And David Donohue, driving the Brumos Racing Porsche GT2 RS ClubSport, clocked a new TA1 qualifying record earlier this week, breaking his own record from last year. There are 66 drivers entered for this year’s race.

The Brumos Collection

And legendary Brumos Racing driver Hurley Haywood will be Pikes Peak Hill Climb grand marshal this year.

If that Brumos news isn’t cool enough, how about a Ford van?

But not just any van – how about an electric Ford SuperVan 4.2 with motorsports legend Romain Dumas at the wheel in his eighth appearance at the event. Specifically designed to conquer America’s mountain and showcase the extreme limits of electric power, Ford said the van underwent a complete aerodynamic redesign – over 4,400 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.

There’s three STARD UHP 6-phase motors and STARD’s Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC pouch cells, one motor powering the front and two in the rear for more than 1,050 kW (1,400 hp).  There’s a revised regenerative braking system with carbon ceramic brake discs, magnesium forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero race tires and a minimalist race interior.

The Amelia concours d’elegance returns for its 29th iteration from Feb. 29 to March 3 of 2024. And the Broad Arrow Amelia Auction will return as the official auction of The Amelia for 2024. And

.

Porsche has a vision – to create the fastest road-legal car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a power-to-weight ratio of roughly one hp per 2.2 lbs.; more downforce than the current 911 GT3 RS; and that charges roughly twice as quickly as the Taycan Turbo S. This concept, the Mission X, is what Porsche calls “a spectacular, conceptual reinterpretation of a hypercar.”

“The Porsche Mission X is a technology beacon for the sports car of the future. It picks up the torch of iconic sports cars of decades past: like the 959, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder before it, the Mission X provides critical impetus for the evolutionary development of future vehicle concepts,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. “Daring to dream and dream cars are two sides of the same coin for us: Porsche has only remained Porsche by constantly changing.”

It has Le Mans-style doors that open upwards to the front, and an ultra high-performance, efficient electric powertrain. Measuring about 177 inches long and 78.7 inches wide, the Mission X concept study has a wheelbase of 107.4 inches. That’s the dimensions of the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder with staggered tires – 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear.

It has 900-volt system architecture, the battery installed centrally behind the vehicle’s seats.

Production is to be decided in due time, Porsche said.
