And there’s more:

Jaguar

Jaguar has unveiled Type 01, its most technologically advanced and powerful model in the brand’s 104-year history. And it was unveiled in New York City. And unlike the concepts unveiled in late 2024, these production versions are 4-doors, not coupes.

Jaguar

To quote the Coventry, England-bases automaker, the Type 01 is defined by “exuberant proportions, with its low roofline, long bonnet, sleek silhouette and dramatic presence.” Yet it has “a clear lineage to the great Jaguars of the past including the E‑type and XJS.”

Jaguar

And it is electric – a bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture with more than 1,000 HP, and a range of up to 400‑miles. Jaguar says it can add up to 200 miles in as little 13 minutes using 350kW charging.

Those who were there say the car exudes strength, grace and it appears – pace with that electric drivetrain. The silhouette is almost a clean line from the rounded nose with sharp fender edges, to the sleek fastback with ribbed tail.

Jaguar

And the interior is spare and sleek as well, a digital screen for the driver, a tablet-like panel for audio and climate controls, all with a ribbed dashtop and slim center console tube that runs aft between both rows.
Jaguar says you can order one in early 2027, with first deliveries expected in the second half of the year – starting from $130,500.

Stellantis/Alfa Romeo

The 2026 Paris Motor Show hosted the worldwide debut of Alfa Romeo’s new Cuorerosso concept car, as the Italian company begins a new chapter in its design destined to inspire future models and to set out how intends to face the new era of electrification.

The name Cuorerosso encapsulates its essence, combining Heart – a universal symbol of emotions – with Red, a synonym for sportiness. Two identifying elements that beat in unison, forming a statement that goes beyond the concept to set out the brand’s future direction.

“Alfa Romeo has always created cars that are capable not only of moving people, but of arousing something within them. It is this human-machine connection, fueled by a unique culture of the Italian spirit, sportiness and passion, which makes each of our cars an Alfa Romeo,” said Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO. “With Cuorerosso, we bring this identity into the future, one open to different energy solutions, in which technology, function and quality are always at the service of emotions and driving pleasure. This is our idea of Bellezza Necessaria: to create cars designed for those who love to drive, which can interpret their time and simultaneously become icons.”

Stellantis/Alfa Romeo

After spending only a week or two on the initial sketches, the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile moved straight on to three-dimensional modeling, tackling the Cuorerosso project as a single solid block to be sculpted, devoid to begin with of wheels, glazing, visuals and details. A deliberately radical design gesture, to enable the designers to focus on theme, proportions and volumes, progressively eliminating the superfluous until the form emerged.

The result is a 2+2 coupé, designed uninterrupted from one end to the other, which combines strongly sporty proportions with elegant lines and surfaces.

It is 185 inches long, almost 80 inches wide and just 52.4 inches tall. It carries the classic Coda Tronca (truncated tail) seen on the Giulia GTZ and Giulietta SZ , for an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.28.

From the side, it is crossed by the characteristic wedge line that runs from the front to the rear, imparting tension and power to the bodywork. Two other world-famous Alfa Romeo stylistic features also stand out on the front – Lo Scudetto as an essential part of the Trilobo – reinterpreted here with a contemporary flair.

Specifically, the Trilobo defines the ‘face’ of Cuorerosso through dialogue between the central Scudetto and the front headlights, resembling a pair of eyes with deliberately natural proportions and fixing a concentrated, self-confident gaze. The grille is characterized by a weave of small backlit triangular elements that dialogue with the historic symbols of the Cross and the Biscione, generating a light signature that beats like a heart.

Stellantis/Alfa Romeo

The dashboard draws inspiration from the architecture of the 1967 33 Stradale.

And under the bonnet is a 2.9 V-6 Full-Hybrid powertrain, paired with Q4 all-wheel drive, torque converter, and carbon fiber driveshaft.

Wait, there’s more:

Digging deep into the seven generations of Z sports cars, Nissan has unveiled the Z Kaze concept that even revives the t-top.
Named for the Japanese word for wind (kaze), the Z Kaze concept’s defining feature is its custom-engineered T-top roof, part of a passion project conceived by a team of Nissan product planners and designers who sought to showcase the open-top roots of the Z sports car.

“The Z Kaze concept celebrates some of Nissan’s most iconic open top sports cars, while recognizing the ’90s tuning culture that helped put Nissan and NISMO on the map,” said Ponz Pandikuthira, senior vice president, chief product and planning officer, Nissan Americas. “This passion project combines Nissan’s engineering excellence, creativity and celebration of the brand’s heritage.”

Designers outfitted the Z Kaze concept in a Pacific Teal paint scheme reflecting the spirit of ’90s sports car culture. The team also enhanced the lines and shape in a nod to the import-tuner car scene of that period: lightweight, vented carbon fiber hood; fender flares; and a custom carbon fiber aerodynamic body ki
The concept rolls on restored 18-inch NISMO LMGT2 wheels. Inside, custom white leather-appointed seating that emphasizes the cabin and the car’s open-air configuration. The twin-turbo 3-liter V-6 is paired with select components from tuning company GReddy, including a front mount air-to-air intercooler kit and Airinx air filter kit.
The Nissan Z Kaze concept will be on display at the Japanese Classic Car Show on Saturday.

More than 60 years after the original delighted Francophiles with its iconic rear engine/rear-wheel-drive 95-hp Renault 8 Gordini, the French automaker is teasing us with a new Gordini concept of the fun l’il family car-turned-sportster.
Saying it is not just a tribute to an icon of French motorsport, the concept also shows how Renault is keeping its heritage alive.

Renault UK Media Site

Renault says the original 8 Gordini (“la Gorde”) was a superb “training car” for a generation of drivers, including Jean Ragnotti. Now comes the reimagining done by Renault Design, wearing 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear and a V-shaped nose with six headlights.
Inside, a 270 hp electric motor.

“We updated the distinctive styling of the original Renault 8, which was virtually symmetrical from front to rear, to give it a more dynamic look,” says Alexandre Malval, Renault VP Design. “With the flowing cabin lines, wide track, prominent wings and wheels of 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, it appears to hug the road. The decision to make the rear wheels larger creates a visual sense of momentum: a nod to the rear layout that was the hallmark of the hugely enjoyable ride delivered by the original.”

Renault Media Site

The rear-wheel-drive EV’s interior revisits the original. Its dashboard visor still runs the width of the cabin, while the fascia itself takes the form of a horizontal brushed aluminum strip, providing a mount for the round dials whose thick bezels echo the 3D design of the headlights. In keeping with the “café racer” aesthetic, plastic materials are replaced by brushed aluminum, used for the controls and on large surface areas, creating a contrast with the sections upholstered in Alcantara.
The only feature that catches the eye is the red dot on the stopwatch button in the center of the dashboard. The center of the seat and backrest are upholstered in blue corduroy, forming a contrast with the other parts of the black bucket seat, and brings to mind the old seats that were flat with no headrests.

Spéirling

The iconic Top Gear TV track at Dunsfold in England was home last week to a new speed attempt by sports legend, Travis Pastrana, who experienced the ground effects EV race car known as the Spéirling prototype for the first time in a new film shot for his YouTube channel – Channel199.

Pastrana, who won 11 X-Games gold medals, and raced in the Daytona 500, tested the same car that holds the outright lap record at Dunsfold, set in 2025 with a time of 55.9 seconds. That beat a  2004 Renault F1 car by over three seconds.

This test drive was completed the day before Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, when Travis was in England to compete in the shootout competition once again. Thomas’ championship-winning quad and Caterham, a shifter kart and a uni-wheel were just some of the many toys that they thrashed around the track, too.

Spéirling

To round off the day, McMurtry staff made up fellow drivers and riders in a single-seater-only drag race against the Travis in the Spéirling, giving him a chance to experience the famously rapid acceleration over a quarter-mile run.

Travis Pastrana says this car “can do things you can’t do with any other vehicle… I’m going faster than I’ve gone in any vehicle I’ve ever driven in my entire life.”

The EV Spéirling can hit 60 mph in 1.55 seconds, and pulls 3 Gs in cornering at speed. It archives its corner stiction via multiple fans that suck in to the tarmac, offering up to 4,400-lbs. Of downforce at speed. For more information, visit: mcmurtry.com/speirling-pure

Wait, there’s more:

This past weekend’s Historic Festival 44 at Lime Rock Park:

Lime Rock Park

Sports car racing in North America owes much to Lime Rock park in Connecticut, opened in 1957 by Jim Vale.

Last weekend, some of the American and European cars that first road raced in the U.S., and at Lime Rock, assembled in the paddock, including the sister of the first car to win the Watkins Glen street in 1948 – a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Berlinetta, driven by Frank Griswold. And Lime Rock hosted a gathering of historic Alfas, a  26-car display bringing together one of the most significant collections of Alfas ever assembled from the collections of Lawrence Auriana, father-and-son collectors Ven and Nick Fonte and Paul Gould.

Lime Rock Park

Legendary race car driver – and actor Paul Newman (right), and New York-born racer Bruce MacInnes, who taught the four-time SCCA national champion, were honored last weekend at the Historic Festival 44 Competitors Dinner at Lime Rock Park.

Lime Rock Park

Newman and MacInnes were inducted into the Legends of Lime Rock Park at the 69-year-old Connecticut road course.

Newman discovered racing while preparing for the 1969 film Winning, and being a Connecticut resident, competed at Lime Rock for decades. When he donned that riving suit to drive for Bob Sharp’s Datsun team, or in some outrageous Porsches, he wanted to be just a driver, and not a star. Meanwhile, MacInnes used to tow his Formula Ford race car behind a VW transporter when it wasn’t parked near his mother’s insurance agency in Forest Hills Gardens. He was also a championship-winning racer who also taught in the Skip Barber Racing School for almost five decades. And he helped refine Newman’s on-track prowess.

The Legends of Lime Rock Park was established in 2024, with track owner and racer Skip Barber its inaugural inductee. John Fitch and Sam Posey joined the Legends in 2025.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was awarded to a Duesenberg SSJ originally owned by Clark Gable.

This year, 218 cars – including 33 international entries from 14 countries and 185 US entries from 30 states – pulled onto the competition field. The winning 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster was shown by Harry Yeaggy of Cincinnati, Ohio.

“Duesenberg often tops the list of desires for people with a passion for American classics, and the iconic SSJ is the marque’s ultimate expression,” Concours Chairperson Sandra Button said in a news release. “This Special Speedster, one of just two made, offers both style and performance—and has a fantastic Hollywood backstory.”

“I won once before, 19 years ago, but I appreciate it a lot better now,” said Yeaggy. “I appreciate the hard work it took and the time it took to get here. People don’t realize how hard it is, how special it is, to win this award. It’s amazing.”

Duesenberg retains its status as the Pebble Beach Concours’ winningest American marque, now having earned a total of eight Best of Show trophies.

JCB Hydromax

Hydrogen powered a sleek one-man land speed record machine to a new record recently, as Andy Green and the JCB Hydromax team traveled at 406.320 mph. Green, you may remember, The now-retired RAF Wing Commander is no stranger to a speed record, being both the current holder of the land speed record at 763.035mph and the first person to break the sound barrier on land.

JCB Hydromax

The team returned to Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where the car recorded the average speed 400.623 mph in its first run, and 412.135mph on its second. This gave an average of 406.320mph – the fastest a hydrogen internal combustion car has ever travelled.

The speed also exceeds the 303mph hydrogen fuel cell mark – making JCB Hydromax the fastest hydrogen-powered vehicle of any kind in history.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

A never-before-seen gathering of some of the most dominating race cars and world championship-winning motorcycles from Japan took center stage for the annual Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion last weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Taking the front row in the photo is Alex Palou’s Honda-powered Dallara IndyCar flanked by the historic rotary-engined Mazda 767B and 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid.

The field was curated from museums, private collections and automakers to showcase years of innovation.

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles

The man behind the McLaren F1 has revealed the new S1 supercar with a naturally aspirated V-12-powered, and a manual transmission.

Based on his S1 LM platform, which is optimized for mechanical grip rather than high downforce, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles’ supercar offers a revised suspension for long distance journeys, while reframing the set-up for fast, engaging, long-distance road driving, Murray says.

“We wanted to show how much beauty and purity there is in this design when the more extreme aerodynamic elements of the S1 LM are stripped away,” Murray says. “It has the same intensity, response, and engineering integrity, but has been tuned for a different purpose. This is a car you could drive along the coast from Los Angeles to Monterey in real comfort, still enjoying every gearshift, every corner, and every note of the V12 when the road opens up.”

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles

The S1 removes the S1 LM’s large, fixed rear wing, long front splitter, and deep side skirts; every exterior body panel is new. An active rear aero system is integrated into the bodywork. And it’s all powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter Cosworth V-12 producing up to 680 hp.

Inside, the S1 retains the central driving position and low scuttle height that define Gordon Murray’s driver focus, while introducing premium leather, bespoke fabrics, tailored trim, touring-level seat comfort, enhanced acoustic insulation, revised infotainment screens, and a bespoke lightweight audio system make the three-seat cabin more suited to long-distance use. And only 64 will be made.

Lamborghini

The 60th anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura will be honored during the 75th Pebble Beach Automotive Week, August 3 through 16. And Automobili Lamborghini will have the largest gathering of transverse V-12 exotics ever assembled anywhere in the world – over 40 on Pebble Beach’s famed 3rd fairway.

The display will be open to the public, offering collectors, enthusiasts, and visitors an extraordinary opportunity to experience one of the rarest moments in automotive history. This gathering is made possible through the dedication of Lamborghini Club USA and the passion of its members.

“Few automobiles have changed the course of history the way the Miura did,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “It wasn’t simply a beautiful car or an engineering milestone, it changed how the world imagined performance, design, and desire. Bringing together the largest collection of Miuras ever assembled, on one of the most celebrated stages in the automotive world, is an extraordinary tribute to the visionaries who created it and to the owners whose passion has preserved its legacy for nearly six decades.”

When Lamborghini unveiled the Miura in 1966, its groundbreaking mid-engine architecture, dramatic proportions, and Marcello Gandini design transformed automotive engineering into rolling sculpture.

The celebration carries particular significance in the Americas, with the United States being the top market for the brand globally. The United States is also home to the world’s largest community of Miura collectors.
