904 Automotive Events Calendar 3-9-2023 The Amelia

Jacksonville Car Culture events calendar

Reminder – Caffeine and Octane’s March event has been cancelled due to a conflict at the site. But Jacksonville’s biggest classic, hot rod and specialty vehicle cruise-in returns from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at The Avenues mall at 10300 Southside Blvd.

For all future C&Os, cars should start arriving by 7 a.m. each Saturday to the Southside Boulevard side of the shopping mall, the best way in through Malabar Boulevard. As always, there will be a Porsche Jacksonville corner, an MBCA Southern Stars section, exotics area, Classics Rows and more at the April 8 C&O. And look for literally hundreds of vintage and classic cars, muscle cars and so much more.

Gentle reminders – All vehicles parked in the Central Lot must remain in place until the show concludes at 11 a.m. Please Park in the Exhibit Lot if you need to leave prior to 11 a.m. Those parking in the Exotics Lot and the Porsche Corner are free to arrive and leave at any time.

THE AMELIA

The 28th iteration of The Amelia concours d’elegance – the huge display of 260 classics, race cars and specialty interest cars also had honoree – and stock car legend – Jeff Gordon last weekend. Here’s Jeff with some of his most famous cars and concours chairman, McKeel Hagerty:

First up on Saturday, there was Cars & Caffeine at The Amelia:

Then there was RADwood at the Amelia, a celebration of ’80s and ’90s automotive lifestyle:

And there was Concours d’Lemons – just the odd, orphaned and plain weird:

Finally, The Amelia in its 28th iteration – just a tiny sampling of 260 historically significant vehicles on display:

And drumroll please – 2023’s Best in Show – Concours d’Elegance was (right) a 1935 Avions Voisin Type C25 Aérodyne owned by Merle and Peter Mullin, 1 of only 6 made, only four known to exist.

.

Next to it, Best in Show – Concours de Sport, a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM owned by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, the last Ferrari to outright win the 1965 25 Hours of Le Mans.
