The next Caffeine &Octane is set for this Saturday at The Avenues mall at 10300 Southside Blvd.
Cars should start arriving by 7 a.m. for the second Saturday C&O from the Southside Boulevard side of the shopping mall, the best way in through Malabar Boulevard. As always, there will be a Porsche Jacksonville corner, an MBCA Southern Stars section, exotics area, Classics Rows and more at each C&O. The Dixie Chapter Pontiacs are planning to be there too. And look for literally hundreds of vintage and classic cars, muscle cars and so much more.

Gentle reminders – All vehicles parked in the Central Lot must remain in place until the show concludes at 11 a.m. If you cannot stay until 11 a.m., please park in the exhibit lot. Please park in the exhibit lot if you need to leave prior to 11 a.m. Those parking in the Exotics Lot and the Porsche Corner are free to arrive and leave at any time.

Hemmings Great Race presented by Coker Tire: More than 100 classic cars and trucks built pre-1970’s that launched on a time-speed-distance rally across America from St. Augustine on June 22nd made it to Colorado Springs on Monday. Armed with only a daily route book and a big analog clock, cars as old as a 1913 Chevrolet and 1918 American LaFrance Speedster drove a circuitous, back roads route over the past week.

The 2023 Hemmings Motor News Great Race crowned Howard and Doug Sharp as the winner in the Grand Champion division as well as the overall win. With that win, driving a 1916 Hudson Pikes Peak Hillclimber, comes $50,000 and a giant eagle trophy.
But lots of Northeast Floridians raced.

Jacksonville’s Shawn Lednick and his father, who finished 60th in a 1966 Mercury Cyclone, were joined by his sisters in 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente, who finished 45th. They parked together at many rest and lunch spots.

Jacksonville’s John Wells and navigator Charlie Sharon competed for the first time in a just-restored 1965 Ford F350 Dually, a former farm truck then found in Pennsylvania.

The truck, which Chuck Jones helped build, also won the Doc Fuson Trucking Award.
“We were in it to learn what we could and finish,” Wells said later.
David Doyle of Green Cove Springs joined his wife and navigator, Barbara, in a 2,000-pound, 46-horsepower 1974 Volkswagen Thing that finished 70th.
